Photographers who are out there for the first time that make maybe $50,000, they're going to pay another 6% in tax that they've never had withheld from their income in the past, but that number is far lower for freelance photographers and other business owners in the U.S. In fact, if you make $400 or more in income, you'll also need to pay self-employment taxes to the tune of 15.3%.
